The Metro government made a big donation to help families with young children.

On Thursday, the city gave more than half a million diapers to the St. Bernadette Diaper Bank. It's the only diaper bank in Kentucky.

It distributes them to local nonprofit groups that assist low-income and homeless families.

The need has grown as prices have increased since the pandemic.

"This is a huge donation. It's a lot of diapers. But with that being said, in order to meet the need in Louisville, we need 3 million diapers a year. Last year, we gave out 137,000 diapers. So as always we take all the diapers and donations we can get," said Deanna Hornback, Director of St. Bernadette Diaper Bank.

The diaper bank is running low specifically on pull-ups and diapers for newborns, as well as size 5 and size 6.

You can contact the Louisville Office of Women to find out how access or donate to the diaper bank.
