The local collection for funds and supplies for Ukraine continues through April.

Most recently, Julian Curtiss School fourth grader, Eliza Cooper, worked with Principal Trish McGuire and the school’s student council to launch a food drive and pin-making effort for Ukraine.

In addition to the food collection, and selling pins to raise funds, the entire school wrote notes that will go inside and be taped to the outside of boxes being shipped to Ukraine.

Their pin making raised $220 for the organization Help Ukraine.

The town-wide effort continues through April, and organizers emphasize medical supplies and food are most needed.

According to Sheryl Mandala, who is coordinating the Greenwich effort, Konrad Flejter of Fairfield continues to fill shipping containers with the desperately needed items and ship them to Poland near the Ukraine border.

A crowd gathered along the cheerful pollinator pathway mural on East Putnam Ave on Wednesday for a ribbon cutting event. Greenwich's Environmental Affairs director Pat Sesto praised the commitment of volunteers and staff who persevered for a cheerful mural to be painted on a drab concrete wall by the bus stop opposite Greenwich High School.
