What’s Included during H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon?
Attractions that will be open during Disney H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon include the following:
Disney H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon will also feature entertainment. In particular, there will be a dance party with a DJ spinning hot beats all night. This spirited celebration is sure to dazzle—with glowing accessories and décor adding to the party atmosphere.
Additionally, you can enjoy unlimited ice cream novelties, popcorn, and select bottled beverages—all included in the cost of this ticketed event—available at carts stationed throughout Typhoon Lagoon water park.
You can also purchase items at select locations throughout the park. Per Walt Disney World, there will be special “glow-themed” menu items available for purchase at select locations in Typhoon Lagoon, too.
(Not quite sure why Walt Disney World is posting a dress code for H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon. Feels like they’re probably using some template, but it should go without saying that you should wear a functional swimsuit to the event at the water park.)
In terms of commentary, this announcement about the 2022 H2O Glow After Hours events is unsurprising…because it was teased during last week’s planDisney podcast. With that said, it’s noteworthy news in a few ways.
First, nighttime is the best time at Typhoon Lagoon. We’ve mentioned this before, but it’s worth reiterating that sunset and beyond is our favorite time to visit the water parks. We’ve done Typhoon Lagoon in the evening several times, from Moonlight Magic to the now-extinct evening Extra Magic Hours. With that said, the critical distinction is that all of those were free. I’m not sure I’d pay $60 to $75 per person for this experience if I were an average guest. There are a lot of other things I’d first prioritize with that money.
Second, one thing that sticks out to me is that it has been renamed from H2O Glow Nights to H2O Glow After Hours. This might seem like an insignificant change, but the company is usually huge on branding and naming convention.
(“Usually” being the operative word. They also recently brought us the little gems that are Genie, Genie+, Lightning Lanes, and Individual Lightning Lanes. Nothing like mixing characters from Cars and Aladdin, while also using confusingly similar names for the offerings. But I won’t go on that rant again!)
If Walt Disney World made a point of renaming this H2O Glow event at Typhoon Lagoon, there’s likely a reason for that. The obvious one would be that “After Hours” is the brand for hard ticket events going forward at Walt Disney World.
This would mean that we’re likely to see more After Hours events in the coming months. It also suggests that the flagship Halloween and Christmas parties might stick with the After Hours naming convention–meaning we’ll see a return of Boo Bash and Very Merriest After Hours rather than Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
That After Hours name could stick for Halloween and Christmas even if those events end up being materially similar to Mickey’s parties, featuring most of the same entertainment (albeit maybe with a later start time and lower capacity cap). Personally, I think that would be a colossal mistake–Mickey’s parties are far stronger brands–but the same could’ve been said for FastPass, and look where that went!
Speaking of which, the return of H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is a signal that we might see more hard ticket events come back this summer. If you asked me what’s the highest priority (e.g. most lucrative) hard ticket event for Walt Disney World to bring back, I would’ve gone with Villains After Hours–not this.
It could be that H2O Glow After Hours is easier and has lower staffing demands, but there’s also less guest interest in it. This is much more of a niche offering, whereas After Hours events at Magic Kingdom are incredibly popular. It could be that Villains After Hours is too similar to Boo Bash, and the company is still working on distinguishing the two.
A better solution–and the one I’d propose–would be distinguishing them by offering Villains After Hours in the summer, and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in the fall. In other words, exactly what was done prior to the closure–no need to reinvent the wheel.
Ultimately, it’s likely that we’ll soon be getting more news about hard ticket special events at Walt Disney World in the coming months. If you’re looking for more speculation about that, we actually just updated our guide to the 2022 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in response to repeated reader questions. (That update was made before today’s development with H2O Glow After Hours, and this event’s name change tilts the scales in favor of Boo Bash slightly, at least in my mind.)
Irrespective of implications for future After Hours events or whether you’re interested in H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, this is good news. It’s yet another step in Walt Disney World’s return to normalcy, and is a pretty strong signal that things will be pretty close to 100% by Memorial Day Weekend. Now, we just need updates on Fantasmic, Finding Nemo: Big Blue & Beyond, and the other remaining entertainment and offerings that are still missing from Walt Disney World almost 2 years later. Hopefully more news is coming very soon–we’ll keep you updated!

I have fingers crossed for some (quality) version of a Halloween party for our fall trip but more so hope they bring back things that aren’t direct money makers (international Epcot CMs, Jedi training, first order marches in HS…) not only the hard ticket events!
What constitutes being a guest of select hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort to use the advance purchase window and book on March 29th? Is it actually staying at a hotel on property on March 29, or having reservations for a Disney hotel on the books for later in the summer?
We did this back in summer 2019. It was easily one of our favorite things and we all left exhausted from all the rides we got in. Side note – I’m cheap, so when I say what follows, you can add some extra value to the opinion :-). Absolutely worth the premium price if u love water parks but hate standing in line for an hour to get in one or two rides. When we go back in the future, this event is big-time on our ‘must do’ list it was so fun.
I’m not sure where to ask this, but since you mentioned a “return to normalcy,” I figure I’d give it a shot here: any idea when the international cast members might to be returning to Epcot and other locales?
Thanks for all you guys do!
What , if any discount is there if you already have a park hopper plus water parks ticket ?
Can Ibuy tickets for friends at a discounted rate who are not DVC members?
What are the hours for this?
I can’t see myself paying for this event as a pass holder. If I were buying tickets for a single day there anyway then yes it sounds like fun. I just don’t find there’s a reason to pay extra when morning crowds are usually fine when we go. Not like for the major park events. I own a home near WDW and still do nights at deluxe hotels just to get after hours.
We really want to do this but the thought of all the attractions closing due to summer storms in the area makes me really nervous. I would hate to be out $75/pp or go and then not be able to get in the water the whole time. We are from the south so we understand threat of lightning closing water attractions! Tricky to decide
