Minnesota State University, Mankato is hosting its 2022 Homecoming bonfire and concert at a combined event outdoors at Blakeslee Stadium on Friday, Sept. 23 from 7-10 p.m.
Doors open at 7 p.m., followed by a bonfire burn at 8:20 p.m., fireworks at 8:40 p.m. and a concert performance by American rapper B.o.B from 9-10 p.m.
General admission tickets to the event are free to the general public, but tickets are required because there is a capacity of 3,500 for the event. Free general admission tickets are available starting Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. by registering at www.mnsuevents.com or at Minnesota State Mankato’s Student Activities front desk, located in the Centennial Student Union, Room 173.
VIP tickets are available for purchase by the general public for $35 and includes early access, front row seating, a signed poster and refreshments.
No outside food or beverages are allowed. Close-toed shoes are required, and Minnesota State Mankato has a clear bag policy to enhance security, reduce staff touchpoints and to expedite entry times for guests.
Non-essential items should be left at home. Medical equipment and diaper bags, folding chairs, weather apparel and blankets are permitted and subject to search by security staff. Prohibited items may include backpacks, coolers, briefcases, drawstring/cinch bags, grocery bags and large purses.
Guests may carry the following style and size of bag into the event:
Clear tote (plastic, vinyl or PVC) that does not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” or a plastic storage bag (maximum one-gallon, resealable and clear). Small bags, such as small clutch purse, that are approximately the size of a hand (with or without a handle will be allowed), but must not exceed 5” x 8”. Guests with bags not meeting guidelines will be asked to return them to a vehicle or switch bag contents to a clear bag. Non-compliant bags may be subject to search.
Minnesota State Mankato bans weapons on campus and is an alcohol, drug, and tobacco free campus. Use of substances will result in removal from the concert.

According to a biography provided by the artist, B.o.B was born Bobby Ray Simmons and is a Decatur, Georgia, native. His biography says: “B.o.B burst onto the hip-hop scene in late 2006, becoming at multifaceted lyricist, storyteller and producer.”
The artist’s provided biography also says: “The release of his commercial single, ‘Nothin On You,’ featuring Atlantic Records’ star Bruno Mars, landed him atop the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and garnered a three times platinum status.”
