UDA presidential candidate William Ruto has said only Kenyans will decide who will be the next President in the August 9, polls.

He said the people have the power to decide who they want to lead them hence nobody will decide for them.

Ruto spoke in Nyamira town during a campaign rally on Thursday where he accused a section of leaders whom he said are planning to rig him out during the August polls.

In his address, the DP appeared to confirm claims that the Handshake team led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are planning to "steal his votes".

“We will not accept to be shortchanged by some greedy individuals who are seated in Nairobi hotels trying to manipulate the future of this country,” Ruto said.

The remarks  by the DP come after Kapseret MP oscar Sudi and his Kimilili counterpart Didmus Barasa took to their Facebook pages to allege a plot to steal Ruto's votes.

The two said they are on the watch out and will, therefore, not allow that to happen.

Ruto further accused Uhuru and Raila of occasioning the hard economic times Kenyans are going through.

Ruto said the Handshaker partners are detached from the real situation on the ground since they don't know how it feels like to sleep on an empty stomach.

"Those people do not have Kenyans at heart. We want to send them home in August so that we bring our country to order. We cannot live in a country where a few individuals are benefitting at the cost of millions of Kenyans who are suffering down here,” the DP noted.

Ruto was flanked by West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, gubernatorial candidate Walter Nyambati, senatorial candidate Nyambega Mose, West Mugirango UDA MP candidate Charles Ongoto among other leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza.

The DP was on his second-day tour of Nyamira to woo residents to vote for his Kenya Kwanza team come August general elections.

He urged the residents not to listen to the Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga claiming he has nothing to offer.

"I can stand tall and point out some of the projects that we have done in Nyamira, I want him (Raila) to come and tell us what he has offered to the people of Nyamira for the years he has been in government."

Ruto on the other side assured the residents of victory saying nobody will manipulate or interfere with his votes.

“Raila should accept defeat come August since we are going to win this very early in the morning, nobody should lie to you that our votes will be stolen, there is nothing like that,” DP said.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula said Kenya kwanza is seeking support from Kenyans to change the lives of citizens.

“The August election is all about changing the livelihood of Kenyans something that our competitors have not told you about. Avoid that state project and vote Kenya Kwanza to change your lives once and for all because we are winning this election on round one,” Wetangula said.

Leaders who were with DP Ruto said he has the potential, unlike other candidates, to take the country to the next level in terms of development.

“It is only the DP who will help our country from the jaws of poverty and high cost of living. Our women, youths and people living with disability are suffering. Let us all arise and support him since he has the goodwill to change our country,” said UDA gubernatorial candidate Walter Nyambati.
