It’s critical for our Federal Government to maintain some checks and balances. Having one party control the House, Senate and Presidency leaves no room for compromise. We believe Congressman Mike Garcia has done a stellar job serving our valley in Washington. Imagine how much he will be able to accomplish for Santa Clarita once the Republicans regain the majority in the House of Representatives.
The same is true for Suzette Valladares in the California Assembly. It’s critical for our state legislature to achieve a better balance. The California super majority has made many damaging policies for our state. Suzette and Tom Lackey (and her counterpart, Scott Wilk in the Senate) have been fighting an uphill battle to bring some sanity to the legislature.
Just as former City Councilman, Bob Kellar mentored Santa Clarita’s Mayor Pro Tem, Jason Gibbs, we believe it is critical to hand the baton to the next generation of leaders. That’s why we’re endorsing Denise Lite. We believe Denise, like Jason, will bring new energy to our City Council. She’s intelligent, savvy and will go up the learning curve very quickly. We believe while Marsha McLean has been a good representative for Santa Clarita, it is time for her to “hand her baton” to Denise Lite.
Laurene Weste and Bill Miranda provide strong balance to our City Council, assuring we continue to remain on the right policy track.
Covid-19 allowed us to witness how critical it is to have strong leadership on our school boards. Leaders who will represent students and parents as their number one priority. Our schools face many unusual challenges over the next few years. That’s why we believe the above slate will pave the way for policies that will most benefit our students.
What is most important, is we re-elect, Joe Messina, the current William S. Hart School Board President. Joe has been fighting for our kid’s rights and bringing balance back in with parental input. He has also been a strong advocate for career tech, weaved into the curriculum at Castaic High School.
Water continues to be an imperative challenge throughout California. The Santa Clarita Water agency has done a stellar job navigating through these challenges. We are lucky to have three visionary experts running, all with incredible experience handling the water issues in our valley. It is important to have Bill Cooper, Maria Gutzeit and Dirk Marks lead the way in solving our future water challenges.

I have 4 children and had several miscarriages. One of my miscarriages was a couple days after the 15 week mark. I went to the er and the doctor treating me was visibly upset and said he didn’t know how far along I was. He said that when I delivered the baby boy. When I was pregnant with my 3rd child I almost lost him but a specialist figured out what was going on and saved him. I had a lot of ultrasounds during that pregnancy and it’s clear how early the fetus develops. When it comes to 2nd and 3rd trimester abortions they should be illegal. Anyone who has one or performs one that far along should be accused of murder. Saying that it’s a woman’s body therefore claiming it’s her decision is ridiculous. You should also learn basic grammar before you post stuff.

You endorsing Mike Garcia for the House of Representatives means you are endorsing someone who voted (along with 143 GOP colleagues) not to accept the Electoral College count during the 2020 presidential contest. We’re supposed to tax people. Didn’t you know that? It’s how our system runs. The disagreements come when we discuss/vote on how to spend tax dollars and how much should be taxed. But we have a say, either directly by voting,or through representatives we choose.
