A new bill that would get rid of sales taxes on menstrual products and diapers is now headed to the governor's desk.

This bill is part of a nationwide movement to get rid of sales tax on the products.

It's not the first time efforts have been made, but it has not made it to the governor's desk before.

Lawmakers attached it onto another bill of tax policies as an amendment. After the Senate and House added the amendment, both chambers approved the bill and sent it to the governor.

The Senate passed the bill in a 44-0 vote and the House passed the bill in an 83-0 vote.

The sales tax would end in Iowa for menstrual products of all different kinds — as long as they are designed for feminine hygiene for the menstrual cycle.

It also applies to both cloth and disposable diapers for adults and infants.

The governor hasn't recently confirmed what she would do with this. KCCI reached out to the governor's office for comment and we will let you know when we hear back.
